I found week 3's videos and readings very interesting. I don't recall ever being introduced to the UDL lesson planning idea. I like the concepts of the UDL. I have taught gifted and Talented(G-T) classes, special education classes(spec. ed.), and classes of students with a variety of learning styles and challenges and have used the UDL concepts many times, but have never seen it written in the UDL format.
Even in classes that are not designated as G-T or spec. ed., there are always students with differing learning styles and lessons planned using the UDL concept help teachrs reach students in any type of classroom. I'm vey excited that the education community is encouraging teachers to use this format when planning their lessons.
With more and more technology being introduced into educational curriculum and lessons, the UDL idea is becoming easier to follow. A quick internet search results in many free activities that can be downloaded or access online for classroom use. an internet seqarch also results in ideas for a variety of ideas for ways to introduce, present and assess any lesson topic in any standard class curriculum.
I think the UDL lesson outline idea is way overdue and current teachers should be introduced to this concept as they are introduced to emreging classroom technology tools and should be encouraged to use this format when developing technology rich lessons.
